FriPos was not made to sell software.
We run five restaurants in Chiang Mai, Thailand, and FriPos is the POS all five of them use every day.
Tap a name to open that restaurant on Google Maps, with photos and reviews from customers.
It started when the POS our shop relied on stopped working overnight and never worked again. The next morning we could not open.
A restaurant that cannot take orders or take payment cannot open. So we decided to build the POS we really needed ourselves.
At Chiangmai Horumon, the end-of-day report that arrives on LINE every night said: "30 fewer customers than a usual day of the same weekday". The next day it was 31 fewer. The day after that, 28 fewer. The same notice kept coming.
Even when you look at your sales every day, a run of quiet days is surprisingly easy to miss.
So we told our staff that customers were dropping.
"Are we greeting every customer properly?"
"Are we serving them with a smile?"
It gave all of us a reason to check the basics again.
The service may not have been the reason customers dropped. Even so, without that report we think we would have noticed much later.
At No.1 Moo Kata, one night the AI daily summary that arrives on LINE every night said: "more cancellations than usual". It also said who had cancelled.
When we asked, it was a new staff member. They did not know how to move a table, so they cancelled the whole order and entered it all again on the table the customers moved to.
We showed them on the spot: "Next time, move the table like this." Since then, the odd cancellations have not come back.
Before, we never noticed things like this. Now we notice the same day and can show them right away.
FriPos is not something that is finished once it is built.
In a busy hour, orders pile up at once, and staff sometimes press the wrong thing. We improve it little by little from what happens in our own restaurants.
The people who build FriPos are also restaurant owners who use FriPos. If it is hard to use, we are the ones who suffer. That is why what matters most to us is that a shop can use it every day without worry.
On the system status page, we publish our usage record for every day and the system troubles for the period that logs are kept.
We built FriPos for our own restaurants, and we want other shops to use it too, from a small street stall to a busy restaurant.
We will keep using it in our own restaurants every day and keep improving it.
FriPos is free to start. The free plan never expires.
